Judge Rules Malkin To Stay!

A New York District Judge denied Metallurg's request for an injunction barring Evgeni Malkin from playing for the Pittsburgh Penguins this season. This was exactly what the Penguins and the league had been hoping for. Metallurg along with the other Russian teams can still move forward to a trial requesting compensation if they choose, but they will not be able to keep Malkin, Andrei Taratukhin of the Calgary Flames, or Alexei Mikhnov of the Edmonton Oilers from playing NHL games this season.

The Penguins VP of Communications,Tom McMillian, finally broke his silence on the matter today. ''We always have been confident in our position in Evgeni's case. We are very happy for Evgeni, his family and Penguins fans.''

More on this matter tomorrow, along with some notes.
