Pens 4 v Kings 3 - Malkin Scores 6th and 7th
Evgeni Malkin scored his second goal of the game to win it in overtime for the Penguins. The win gives the Penguins 5 in a row, something they have not done since the 2001-02 season.
This is a prime example of a game that the Penguins would have lost last season. They were winning 2-1 before falling back 3-2. Instead of imploding, they went into the lockroom during the intermission, got their heads on straight, came out and got themselves back into the game.
The win gets the west coast road trip off to a positive start, something that is rare with the Penguins. They hadn't beaten LA since the 1998-99 season, going 0-7-1 in their last 8 against the Kings.
Noah Welch, played one of his better games in a Penguin uniform, notching the tying goal.
This young team is one of the best tickets in hockey right now. If you can't watch the Sabres, make sure to catch the Pittsburgh Penguins. They may not be as good yet, but they are a very fun team to watch!

To Overtime they go! The Penguins played a much improved period to earn it.
Penguins power play coming up after Norstrom tripped Malkin.

Through two periods, the Kings lead 3-2. The Penguins looked and played like team that spent 5.5 hours traveling to LA yesterday. The jet lag must be catching up to them a bit. The line chages were sloppy and they were not able to connect on many passes. The Kings are ahead on the score cards and the score board, they will be looking for a knock out punch in the third.
Anze Kopitar is as advertised, he looks great. He has shown a great ability to keep the puck in traffic and is a great set up man. He has been involved in several great scoring chances, though he has not gotten on the board.

Evgeni Malkin has scored his 6th goal in as many games, something that has not been done since year one of the National Hockey League. Malkin and his line looked strong in the first period, but they are looking fatigued in the second.
Jordan Staal has also scored in this game...
Half way through the second: Kings 3 Pens 2

Nice writeup. Glad to see that Malkin is turning out to be as advertised and more. Saturday's game will be interesting against SJ, a real test for all of the Penguins.
