Welch Makes Pittsburgh Debut
The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled their top defensive prospect, Noah Welch. Welch, 6'4" 215 lbs, was the Penguins second round pick, 54th overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. Welch is highly regarded within the organization and was the leading defensive scorer on the Wilkes Barre-Scranton Penguins with 8 G 18A. Welch played in the AHL all star game this season.
The move became necessary when Eric Cairns was suspended for spearing Zdeno Chara on Tuesday night and the demotion of defenseman Alain Nasreddine to the Wilkes Barre-Scranton Penguins.
